A FINANCIAL Provisioning Scheme advisory committee has been formed to advise the Queensland government on how best to distribute money from a pooled fund set up to rehabilitate abandoned mine sites so taxpayers are not left to foot the bill.

Queensland wants miners to contribute to a pooled fund set up to rehabilitate abandoned mine sites so taxpayers are not left to foot the bill.

The committee, made up of resources, environmental and academic experts, will be chaired by Queensland Treasury agency performance group acting deputy Maryanne Kelly.
