NQ to host critical plant

An Australian-first critical minerals demonstration plant to be built in Townsville -at the Cleveland Bay Industrial Park between Sun Metals’ zinc refinery and Glencore’s copper refinery- will prove up the commerciality of critical minerals in Queensland, according to premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.

While originally designed to process just vanadium, the $75 million facility will now have capacity to treat a range of critical minerals like cobalt, high purity alumina and rare earth elements.
