Glencore wins Port of Newcastle charges case in Federal Court

GLENCORE has won a victory with the Federal Court ruling against the Port of Newcastle Operations in an ongoing dispute over port charges on the basis that the port cannot charge for expenses it did not incur.

Glencore argued the royalty payable should be 60 cents a tonne, while the PNO argued it was more than $1/t.

The Full Federal Court has sent the matter back to the Australian Competition Tribunal after making its unanimous decision.
