VICTORIA-based metal detecting equipment company Eriez Australia has replaced its long-time Perth sales agent Western Process Equipment with its own sales and service centre in Western Australia’s capital.

WPE provided services for Eriez customers in Perth for more than 50 years.

Eriez's sales office will continue to stock Eriez equipment for mining and minerals processing, including suspended electromagnets, flotation equipment, metal detectors, magnetic mill liners and vibratory screens.

WPE founder Brian Packer has been retained as an Eriez consultant, while employees Daniel Kerry and Amanda Ferguson will continue in their roles in the Perth office.

Eriez vice-president international operations and business development Eric Nelson said the repair and service centre would expedite the turnaround time for repairs in the Perth region.

"The service centre can handle suspended electromagnets, wet drum separators, eddy current separators and other larger pieces of equipment," he said.

"We will build upon the foundation that WPE established and add new capabilities going forward that customers will appreciate."

Eriez Australia managing director James Cooke said Parker and his team had become entrenched in the mining industry over the past five decades and played an instrumental role in developing the drum separator technology for the mineral sands industry.

"That helped Eriez become a global leader in developing rare earth rolls," he said.

"We are forever grateful for the WPE team and their tireless dedication to improving processes and efficiencies for all our customers."
