AURIZON’S Central Queensland Coal Network could be closed for at least five days after one of its coal trains collided with a Pacific National freight train that had derailed between Gladstone and Rockhampton.

The rail corridor between Gladstone and Rockhampton, which is part of Aurizon’s Central Queensland Coal Network, was closed to all rail traffic.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is investigating the incident after emergency personnel arrived at the scene from Queensland Police and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services.
