Tritton truck fire probed

A HOLE in the exhaust flex and an overfilled fuel tank are thought to be the cause of a June 23 2018 truck fire that forced underground workers at Aeris Resources’ Tritton copper mine near Nyngan in New South Wales to take refuge.

A Sandvik TH663 haul truck caught fire at about 4:35pm on June 23 2018 in the mine's main decline.

The truck was about 900m below the surface and 6.3km down the decline.
