BHP fined after metal shard hits worker

BHP has been fined $125,000 in the South Hedland Magistrates Court after pleading guilty to a charge of causing serious harm to an employee. The charge relates to an incident in which a contractor was struck in the neck by a metal shard at the Whaleback iron ore mine in Western Australia’s Pilbara in September 2017.
