Cobham business development director Tim Pirga said it was "thrilled to be bringing the benefits" of the E190 jet and Q400 turboprop aircraft to the miner.

"We look forward to welcoming additional E190 and Q400 aircraft to our fleet throughout 2022 to enable us to mee the increasing demand, not only in the FIFO [fly-ink, fly-out] sector, but also for ad hoc charter flights for a wide range of clients."

The E190s and Q400s Cobham is adding offer better airfield performance and reliability and lower carbon emissions.

Last year the specialist aviation operator farewelled its BAe 146s, which had been ferrying FIFO workers to and from site in WA since 1985.
