IN the face of major skilled worker shortages, New Zealand coal producer Solid Energy has turned to the British market to source miners for its Spring Creek and Terrace Mine operations.

Solid Energy recently advertised in the UK for experienced miners, hoping to capitalise on a number of redundancies in UK mines that have left British miners out of work.

 

The Waikato Times reported Solid Energy had received 270 inquiries, resulting in 77 applications to date.
