SCHROEDER Industries will shine a product spotlight at MINExpo on its LW60 filter for longwall applications.

The LW60 has a single filter housing that is horizontally aligned with the unit’s fluid supply and was developed to handle the issues that higher pump flows often bring. The pilot element’s service life can be lengthened, according to Schroeder, even on a very large longwall, because of its straight-through flow.

The filter can adapt to Super Strecko fittings often found underground by using the filter’s included 2in BSPP ports. At 300gpm, the LW60 has steel housing and a stainless steel bypass valve to keep a longwall’s typical 95/5 fluid split flowing.

The unit also features a Dirt Alarm, which lets mines know when the unit’s element is in need of replacement, and optional signal output indicators that have MSHA approval configurations can be added to the filter’s housing. A newly added synthetic media incorporated specifically for mining has been added to the design, ExcellementMD, and has differeint efficiency options.

Pioneer Pump

PIONEER Pump will unveil two new products at MINExpo, the Pioneer Prime PP86C21 self-priming pump and the PP44S8-C1.5ACERT dewatering pump, both of which can provide higher productivity at a lower cost, the company said.

The Pioneer Prime PP86C21-C18ACERT vacuum assisted self-priming pumps, a solution primarily for opencut and quarry applications, are the inaugural units in the company’s line that will have maximum flow of more than 3000 gallons (US) per meter. Powered by a Tier III emission compliant CAT C18ACERT common rail electronic managed engine, the pump delivers up to 700ft (22 bar) and up to 30% more uplift using less fuel.

“The eight-inch by six-inch pump … is the first of a generation of 20-bar pressure pumps. Other models currently under development will provide six inches by four inches, 10 inches by eight inches and, in the future, a 12-inch by 12-inch capable of more than 528,000 (US) gallons per hour,” officials said.

Pioneer Pump will also launch the PP44S8-C1.5ACERT, a new 4in solids handling low head dewatering pump. Users can choose from two models, a 3in solids handling impeller or a 2in solids handling high-efficiency impeller that was designed with mining dewatering applications in mind.

“The two-inch solids handling impeller has shown in evaluation studies in standard centrifugal format that the pump is capable of flows over 1000 US gallons per minute, maintaining an operating efficiency in excess of 85 percent,” Pioneer Pump officials said, which makes it energy efficient and keeps cost down while permitting 24-hour continuous pumping.

The Pioneer Prime configuration for the pump is a Tier III CAT 1.5-litre engine capable of about 15hp at 1800rpm and generating 800gpm (US) at 50ft head.

“Over-sizing pump specifications for mines and quarries has been the norm for many years and it could be justified while operating costs were much lower. Today, pump managers need to be much more cost conscious,” the company said.
