QME mirrors positive industry

TURNSTILES at the Mackay show grounds have finally stopped turning after three days of the Queensland Mining and Engineering Exhibition (QME), with organisers branding the exhibition a success owing to the high quality of visitors.

Exhibition manager John Gorton said he believed the quality of visitors was higher than previous years, with key industry players and buyers attending.

Although official attendance figures have not been released, Gorton said numbers would be in the same vicinity as 2002 – which attracted 7,700 visitors.

This year 460 exhibitors were showing – the highest number ever. Gorton said a lot of smaller companies had used the exhibition as a platform to launch their business or products and services.

He said QME mirrored the positive mood of the Australian mining industry.

International Longwall News will bring you reports over the next month detailing recent contracts and tenders won by exhibitors and new products and services launched at the exhibition.
