The company, which is developing coal mining, coal coking and clean coal technology operations in the Republic of Colombia, did not indicate an effective date for the appointment.
Lilly, who has more than three decades of experience in senior operations and executive management, previously served as chief operating officer and coal group president for Consol Energy and also held the seat of president and COO for Peabody Holding Company.
A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and Harvard University, he also served as president and CEO of Triton Coal Company and Vulcan Coal Holdings and spent 11 years with Kerr-McGee Coal, where he rose from manager of maintenance planning to mine manager to VP of marketing and planning before being appointed president.
“I believe he is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced coal industry executives in the world today,” CCPF president and chief executive officer Ronald Stovash said.
“Pete Lilly's coal market insights and guidance will be invaluable to the company as we continue to refine and implement our metallurgical coal strategy.”
CCPF has plans to build both metallurgical coal and high-grade thermal coal operations and also implement advanced coal technologies, such as coal gasification and coal-to-liquids, to produce metallurgical coke, urea, liquid fuels, power and other clean energy solutions.
