According to several media reports including large regional news outlet The Southern, the northbound train sustained heavy damage on all but two cars when it derailed at 1.25pm in a rural area between Christopher and Zeigler.

There were no injuries or threat to public safety, Franklin County emergency officials told the paper, and the cleanup was still underway on Monday.

Its origin and destination locations were not released.

Officials have closed the line until debris is cleared from the area.

BNSF, which also has launched an investigation, did not release public comment on the incident.
