Lencrow spreads some Christmas cheer

The Smith Family is a national, independent children’s charity, focused on helping disadvantaged Australian children get the most out of their education – ultimately ensuring they can create better futures for themselves.

Lencrow’s involvement with the Christmas appeal will see the company provide five 2500kg forklifts and a number of hand pallet jacks from its hire fleet for use in the packing and distribution centres.

Lencrow general manager Ross Grassick said The Smith Family’s commitment to supporting disadvantaged families over the past 90 years inspired Lencrow to get involved with the initiative.

By supporting the appeal he said Lencrow aimed to help ensure families and their children received the happy Christmas they deserved.

The Smith Family was founded 90 years ago when five Australian businessmen concerned by the poverty that existed on their doorstep visited an orphanage on Christmas Eve, donating toys and sweets for the children.

When asked who the children could thank, the men answered: “Smith, we are all Smiths. We’re the Smith family” – providing the charity with the name it proudly bears today.
