Monseu brings more than 30 years of relevant industry experience to the association, having worked previously in the utility, transportation, and coal production sectors.

She replaced outgoing CEO, Janet Gellici, who has served as ACC CEO throughout its 30-year history.

“We welcome Betsy’s broad industry and management background, and believe that she brings the leadership and experience needed to guide the ACC into the future,” Gellici said.

“Her diverse history and experience fits perfectly with the equally diverse membership of our organisation.”

Monseu began her career with Central Illinois Public Service Company, now part of Ameren Illinois.

In 1990 she assumed a management position with Southern Pacific Railroad as manager coal market development and then, in 1994, moved to Cyprus Amax Coal Company.

Most recently, Monseu was vice president, transportation for the sales affiliate of Alpha Natural Resources in its Baltimore, Maryland office from August 2009 until late 2012.

Monseu has an MBA from the University of Illinois, Springfield, and a BSc (economics and business administration) from Illinois College.
