The Oaky North Mine has a vacancy for a longwall mining coordinator who would report to the longwall superintendent. This position is on roster and has become available due to an increase in longwall production, Xstrata said in its recruitment material.
“As the successful applicant you will be primarily responsible for planning and coordinating all mining activities in the longwall department, you will also have the ability to efficiently schedule and communicate longwall activities and targets to ensure optimum production and safety,” the company said.
“You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with the mine operating procedures, standards and statutory requirements are met on a daily basis.”
Candidates should have experience in underground coal mining (mandatory), one to two years’ experience in a similar position (mandatory), and a third class certificate of competency (desirable), Xstrata said. “These credentials are complemented by your genuine commitment to safety and demonstrated ability to operate in an environmentally responsible manner,” it said.
Xstrata is also seeking a development mining coordinator reporting to the development superintendent at Oaky North.
The successful applicant will primarily be responsible for forming part of the development management team and assisting Oaky North coal mine scheduling and coordinating its development production activities to meet its safety and production requirements on a Monday to Friday roster.
Other responsibilities include planning, scheduling and coordinating development activities and targets to ensure optimum production and safety, ensuring compliance with the mine operation procedures, standards and statutory requirements and collecting all information regarding development performance.
Oaky North is also looking for a longwall electrical coordinator and a longwall mechanical coordinator.
