Boasting patented hybrid hydraulic technology, the 336E H model excavator claims to improve fuel efficiency by up to 50% by collecting, storing and releasing energy during machine operation, according to the company.

The machine is also environmentally friendly – meeting stringent US Environmental Protection Agency Tier 4 Interim emissions standards, as well as offering automatic after-treatment regeneration.

Caterpillar Asia-Pacific marketing manager Phil Pollock said the company was confident its hybrid solution would save customers both time and money.

“Caterpillar has developed, built and tested electric hybrid excavators in the past but until now we hadn’t found a hybrid solution that we believe will deliver for customers like the 336E H,” he said.

“The new hybrid hydraulic technology on the 336E H is a simple, robust system that delivers excellent power density.

“It is the product of five years of development, refinement and customer testing in the harshest conditions.

“It’s also an environmentally responsible and sustainable machine but at the same time maintains Caterpillar’s high standards of performance, power, force, speed and production.”

Marketed as capable of ensuring durability and reliability across applications, Pollock explained that Caterpillar took customer feedback on board while designing the 336E H model.

“By listening to our customers and taking into account what they see as important in product development, they prove to be key business partners and their collaboration is of vital importance,” he said.
