Outburst kills one in China

A MINER has been confirmed dead with 14 others missing following a coal mine gas outburst in southwest China's Guizhou Province on Sunday.

The outburst occurred at the state-owned Wulunshan mine in Nayong County while 104 miners were working underground. Official news agency Xinhua reported 89 workers managed to escape following the outburst.

The Wulunshan mine is run by Yanzhou Coal Group subsidiary the Guizhou Energy and Chemical Co, one of China’s safest mining companies.
