Shepherd for Peabody US government relations

Shepherd will take charge of advancing Peabody’s public policy and regulatory interests on US energy and environmental matters.

Given the stance President Barack Obama’s government has taken on the coal industry, he will likely have his work cut out for him.

Before Venable, Shepherd worked on Capitol Hill as an advisor, helping draft legislation on both House and Senate committees.

He has a juris doctorate from George Washington University Law School and a BA (philosophy) from Yale University.

Peabody has also named Chris Curran as VP of corporate communications.

The University of Connecticut communications graduate has more than 20 years of experience in corporate communications across healthcare, manufacturing and consumer goods and services.
