TECO shipments back on track after Katrina

At the time Hurricane Katrina made landfall on the US Gulf Coast, Tampa Electric had a 30-day coal stockpile at its Florida production facilities.

By moving its cranes slightly upriver, the TECO barge line was able to put 23000 tons of product on its TECO Ocean Shipping vessel; it is now on its way through the Gulf estimating a September 9 delivery.

TECO Transport said it planned to keep delivering coal to Tampa Electric from this new location until TECO Bulk Terminal commenced operation once more, according to a company release, which also said the company hoped to start loading products within the next 30-45 days pending an assessment of damage and commencement of repair work.

TECO Energy of Tampa, Florida, is a holding company dealing primarily in energy products.
