US mine employee killed

A MASSEY Energy employee was killed while trying to free a tractor-trailer stuck at a railroad crossing in West Virginia.

Forbes reported last week that the employee, who worked for Massey's Mass Transport sector, died at a crossing near Stollings, in Logan County.

The company is still trying to establish what happened, however Logan Emergency Ambulance Service Authority chief Dave Maynard told Forbes it appeared something had fallen from the trailer and struck the man in the face.

The US Mine Safety and Health Administration confirmed details of the incident but said it would not investigate the accident as the accident did not occur on mine property.
