The Planning Department’s scoping paper for its new strategy remains on exhibition until April 15, while government officials continue to host various forums in coal mining regions.

After the forum held in Singleton this week, Planning Minister Tony Kelly told the ABC that he would discuss the prospect of excluding areas from mining activity entirely, a move which would address competing land use issues.

But any policy outcomes are likely to depend on decisions made by the state Coalition, which is poised to win government in the election later this month.
