TWO miners have died and 10 have been rescued in a northern Vietnamese underground coal mine which was flooded on Tuesday.

Rescue workers spent 13 hours Tuesday digging out the 10 survivors, who were uninjured, the Associated Press reported.

The incident occurred when workers mined into a pocket of water which flooded the mine.

The mine is owned by Dong Bac Coal Mine Corp.
