The event, to be hosted at the Omni William Penn Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh, will feature experts in the field to discuss the latest developments in the CTL sector, including the projected potential for it and biomass technology to help in America’s energy security.
Carbon dioxide storage and management as well as water management practices will also be a part of the conference.
Organisers said other itinerary plans include a look at the latest status of projects, the viewpoints of experts from China and South Africa, and information gathering on an assessment of commercial viability for CTL projects.
The following presentations have been confirmed:
Direction and Roadmap to Realize the Clean Energy Potential of Domestic Coal – Daniel Cicero, Hydrogen and Syngas National Energy Technology Laboratory;
Economic and Environmental Impact of CTL – Fredrick Palmer, Peabody Energy;
CTL and Related Carbon Issues in China – Dr Qingyun Sun, US-China Energy Center, West Virginia University;
Developing Global Coal-Based Fuel, SNG (Syngas) and Chemical Projects – Tim Cornitius, Zeus Development Corporation;
H-COAL Process Technology for Direct Coal Liquefaction – John Duddy, Axens North America; and
CO2 Geologic Storage – John Tombari, Schlumberger Carbon Services.
According to organisers, this sixth annual event is the first time the US has played host. All five previous gatherings have been hosted in China.
