Peace River no longer hip

The company owns a 74.5% stake in PRC, and its Trend open cut mine in British Columbia produced 632 000 tonnes of metallurgical coal and 140 000t of thermal coal in 2008.

PRC was not initially announced as part of Anglo’s non core asset lineup, but a spokesperson told Bloomberg it had been included after a recent review.

Under new plans, parent company Anglo American aims to remove a layer of global management to reduce “overhead staff” by 25% and save $US120 million per annum.

Five London-based directors are currently working on a management restructure for the group.
