An explosion in Liuzhou mine on China’s southern coast occurred on Sunday when 11 miners were underground. Four managed to escape but the remaining seven were killed, Dow Jones reported.

It is yet to revealed what caused the blast.

In a separate incident on Thursday last week the Changda mine in Dengfeng was flooded. Four bodies had been recovered with 14 miners still missing, Dow Jones reported.

More than 700 rescue workers have tried to free the trapped miners but the rescue had been hampered by trapped gas.
