The announcement was made by the company sales director Ian Grant, who was in India to open P&H’s India headquarters.

The UK-based company plans to build manufacturing facilities in the country in conjunction with local partners. P&H were actively looking for an Indian partner to set up the joint venture.

Grant told The Hindu in the short term P&H would look at supplying and servicing coal mines on a “risk and gain” sharing basis. In the future the company would consider further investment, subject to the Government's long-term coal policy.

The planned facilities would enable P&H to meet demand locally for equipment but also give it capacity to export to other countries.
