Gas-detector hazard alert

BIOSYSTEMS have instructed all customers with the PhD Lite Multi-Gas Detector with software version 3.00 through 3.18 to discontinue its use as it may pose a safety risk.

Angie Tomlinson

The notice issued on October 30 stated the use of the Biosystems PhD Lite units with software versions 3.00 through 3.18 be discontinued until each unit is re-flashed with version 2.04 software.

Continued use of the unit without the software upgrade could result in an inability of the unit to actively detect gas while continuing to show safe readings regardless of ambient concentrations.

Biosystems have advised clients with software numbers between the 3.00 and 3.18 range, to stop using the unit and contact the manufacturer at (800) 711-6776 for further information. Re-flashings can be done in the field using a computer with IrDA or to retrieve version 2.04 log onto http://www.biosystems.com/download/liteflash.htm
