The Global Energy Commodity Excellence Award recognises Peabody for industry-leading safety, operational, marketing and environmental achievements, corporate citizenship and financial success.

Peabody chairman and chief executive officer Gregory Boyce was a finalist for the Global Energy CEO of the Year Award.

The company was also named a finalist for the Strategic Deal of the Year Award and the Corporate Social Responsibility Award.

Boyce said the award was a credit to Peabody’s more than 8000 employees.

“Every day these men and women demonstrate exceptional performance across our Americas, Australia and Asia and trading platforms,” he said.

The award’s presenters said the judges found Peabody to be their strong choice as the winner of this year’s Commodity Excellence Award for Coal.

The Global Energy Awards recognize innovation, vision, leadership and superior performance in more than a dozen categories.

Honorees are selected from nearly 200 entrants by an independent global judging panel that includes former regulators, past leaders of major energy companies, leading academics and international energy experts.
