Kennametal taps Tucker for CTO seat

PENNSYLVANIA supplier Kennametal has appointed John Tucker as vice-president and chief technical officer effective from Wednesday.

Tucker will oversee the company’s international Research, Development & Engineering (RD&E) organisation.

“Our RD&E function is key to Kennametal's success in introducing new products for our customers at a market-leading pace, and we are confident that John will lead our global RD&E team to the next level of performance," said Kennametal president Carlos Cardoso.

Before joining Kennametal, Tucker was chairman and CEO of engineered protective coatings developer Sermatech International. He is a mechanical engineering graduate from the Pennsylvania State University.

In related placement news, Kennametal also announced it had selected Steven Hanna as its new chief information officer.

Hanna’s appointment is also effective October 1, and his responsibilities will include overseeing the company’s information technology functions. A prior employee of General Motors Corporation, he earned a degree in mechanical and electrical engineering from the General Motors Institute.
