Blast traps 29

A GAS blast in a northern Chinese mine on Wednesday has trapped 29 workers.

The explosion occurred late on Wednesday in a mine located in Jiaocheng county, Shanxi province.

Xinhua news agency reported 83 miners were underground at the time of the blast, with 54 miners managing to escape.

Media reports were unclear whether the miners were dead or alive.
