Bengalla star for Coal & Allied

INCREASED production from the Bengalla opencut was offset by limited production at the Mount Thorley/Warkworth mine to produce a December quarter in line with expectations for Coal & Allied.

Bengalla star for Coal & Allied

Coal & Allied mines produced 7.45 million tonnes for the quarter, giving the company a total of 28.6Mt for 2005, down from 29.1Mt in 2004.

The company said increased production at its Bengalla mine, located 4km west of Muswellbrook in New South Wales, was a result of mining thicker coal seams.

Wet weather and a dragline shutdown reduced production at the Mount Thorley/Warkworth mine, located 15km south-west of Singleton in NSW, to 2.4Mt.
