Scheduled for June 7 at the Charleston Civic Center’s South Hall, technologies surrounding mine communication and related technologies will be the focus of discussion for the one-day forum that will run from 8am to 1pm local time.
A review of state and federal mine communications requirements will highlight the day’s agenda. Also included will be a presentation of all current state-approved communications systems and the research findings to date from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.
Operators have also been invited to attend and share their experience of communications devices with industry guests, and officials will offer an update on self-contained self-rescuers and shelter plan approvals.
In addition to technical talks, those shelter vendors whose products are approved will be on hand to display their products.
A prior registration is required to attend the meeting. Contact Jim Bennett at the state mining office on (304) 558-1425 or email Jim_Bennett@mines.state.wv.us
