The event is highlighted by the 2006 Mine Rescue, Pre-shift, Bench and First Aid contests, which will be split up among the three days.

The Pre-shift and Bench (BG-4 and BG-174A) contests will be held June 20, while the First Aid and first portion of Mine Rescue will be held Wednesday. On tap for Thursday is the second section of teams for Mine Rescue. The contests begin at 8am local time each day.

Following the second half of the mine rescue teams on June 22, a presentation of awards and trophies will be held.

There is an entrance fee for teams and benchmen, and the Safety Day committee has compiled registration information including lodging and directions.
