Davis most recently worked at the Brisbane office of International Mining Consultants (IMC) where he has been for the last seven years.

Davis is charged with the task of developing JDS Mining into one of the leading coal mining consultancies within Australia, a company spokesperson said.

The company said it believes that specialisation is the key to offering the best service and will be solely focused on the coal industry, both underground and opencut.

The company offers the following services within the industry.

· Design and implementation of training programs

· Project management

· Training audits and training needs analysis

· Operational assistance

· Engineering design and maintenance

· Geology and mining studies

· Environmental studies, impact statements

· Water, dust, noise and methane management

JDS is also employing three more staff and is forming an alliance with a major mining consultancy within Australia. Once finalised the company said it would release further information.
