Fletcher expands to meet demand

UNDERGROUND roof support equipment company J H Fletcher & Co has opened nearly 30,000 square feet of additional space in Huntington, West Virginia to help meet the increasing demand for underground roof bolters and mobile roof supports.

The expansion adds 18,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 11,400 square feet of warehouse, according to chief operating officer Greg Hinshaw.

Hinshaw said new features being incorporated into Fletcher industrial minerals machines were generating a buzz in the industry and there was an increased demand for a lot of Fletcher products.

“There’s been a lot of enthusiasm created by our new roof mapping technology using the computer feedback system,” he said.

“Fletcher 2005 shipments were up 60 percent over 2004.”

He said demand for Fletcher’s coal mine equipment and industrial minerals products was at an unprecedented level.

The new manufacturing space is designed to improve efficiency in building the larger equipment used in industrial mines in addition to adding capacity for the strong coal industry.
