RBCT exports fall in April

The latest operating data released by the South African port showed an overall decrease in operations compared to March, but a slight improvement on April 2012.

Total exports for the month were 20.6% higher than April last year.

The amount of coal railed to RBCT dropped 8.9% month-on-month to 5.93Mt in April, almost identical to the April 2012 data but down 8.9% from a March record of 6.51Mt.

At the end of the month, RBCT counted 57 vessels and 742 trains and end-of-month stocks of 3.61Mt at the port, steady with levels from both last month and last year.

For the year to date the port has received 24.7Mt of coal and shipped 23.4Mt.
