New members sought for NSW examination panel

THE New South Wales Government Mine Safety Unit is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced people for appointment as an examination panel member for mining certificates of competence.

Examination panel members are appointed by the regulator under the Work Health and Safety (Mines and Petroleum Sites) Act 2013.

The examination panel’s function is to undertake assessments of competence and make recommendations to the regulator on the competence of persons applying for a certificate of competence to exercise a statutory function.

The following positions are vacant: Convenor and Examiner on the Mining Engineering Manager of underground coal mines examination panel; Examiners on the Mechanical Engineer of coal mines examination panel; Examiner on the Undermanager of underground coal mines examination panel; Examiner on the Deputy of underground coal mines examination panel; and Examiner on the Open Cut examiner/Mining Engineering Manager coal mines other than underground examination panel.
