The event, Improving Health and Safety: Enhancing a Culture of Prevention, will be held at the Four Points by Sheraton Pittsburgh Airport. It has been organized to examine and discuss ideas and concepts related to mining culture, safety culture and establishing a culture of hazard prevention.

Past speakers at the seminar have come from industry, government and academia, and threads of discussion at the event stem from culture training and education research to approaches to organizational culture change and resources for culture training.

Those interested in presenting should send a summary of their paper to minertraining@eme.psu.edu along with contact information. Organizers are also interested in speaking with vendors who are active in safety culture enhancement.

This seminar is partly funded through an MSHA Brookwood-Sago mine safety grant, and is associated with the PSMTP project Enhancing Emergency Prevention Performance: an Education and Training Program for Supervisors.

Keep watching ILN for more information on the seminar as it becomes available.
