The $50 million contract is with Fortescue Metals Group and includes construction of facilities for its T155 rail support infrastructure project in Western Australia’s Pilbara to increase FMG’s iron ore exporting capacity.
Work will include the construction of a rail car workshop, amenities building and administration centre; modifications to an existing workshop; coordinating the fit-out of the new rail car workshop; the design and construction of a locomotive provisioning building and rail operations office.
Variations to current contracts include additional accommodation to the rail camp being constructed for FMG in the Pilbara, valued at around $40 million, as well as additional rooms to the fly camp for the Chevron-operated Wheatstone LNG project near Onslow in WA valued at about $47 million and increasing the total contract here to $119 million.
In each instance, the additional work will start immediately and are expected to be completed within the next 12 months.
