Staff Reporter

“Lawrie brings us a wealth of experience in both mine operations (with Rio Tinto) and coal marketing,” said Shaun Browne, AME executive chairman.

“Most recently, he was involved with Rio's coal assets in the Hunter Valley, Australia, where he witnessed first hand the rationalisation and cost reduction drives there. Before that, Lawrie was part of the initial project team for the feasibility, market development and early operation of Kaltim Prima Coal in Indonesia and the Blair Athol and Tarong mines in Queensland, Australia.”

Fanshaw’s experience also includes business analysis, market research and analysis, logistics, shipping, financial modelling, and contract administration.

From December 2000, Fanshaw will be responsible for AME's strategic coal research and will bring additional expertise to the steel raw materials team of Henry Antwi, Dallas Horadam and Melissa Cundy.
