Cumnock Coal reports slow fourth quarter

PRODUCTION from the Cumnock longwall mine for the quarter ended December 2001 was lower than the same period in 2000 after a longwall changeout went slower than expected.

In the three months to December 2001 the mine produced 422,751 tonnes ROM for saleable tonnes of 327,629t. This is below the 648,253t ROM and 485,695t saleable for the previous period to December 2000.

The mine’s total production for the year was 2.7Mt (1.9Mt for 2000), for saleable tonnes of 2Mt.

Cumnock performed three longwall changeouts during the 2001 year compared to only one changeout in the 2000 comparative year.

Cumnock Coal is majority owned by Enex Resources.
