PAPERS from underground mining operators from both mining and contracting organisations are being called on for the 2005 9th AusIMM Underground Operators’ Conference.

The conference will be held from March 7 to 9, 2005, at the Perth Convention Centre, Western Australia. The Conference will take place in connection with the Australian Centre for Geomechanics' 6th International Symposium on Rockbursts and Seismicity in Mines.

Whilst the conference will deal with general underground mining issues, the focus will be on how mines are improving their performance and maximising their shareholders’ value in a time of significant industry consolidation.

Conference themes include mining under high stress conditions; mining methods; safety; human resources; drilling and blasting; ventilation; filling; trucking; contracting; mine economics and; mine optimisation and business improvement programmes.

Abstracts of 300 words are due by April 23, 2004. Abstracts can be submitted to Angie Spry, Publications Coordinator, confvolume@ausimm.com.au
