JTB expands Australian office

INTERNATIONAL mining consultancy, John T Boyd Company (Australia) has expanded their Brisbane-based Australian office in response to rapid growth in the mining industry.

Ian Alexander is the newly appointed managing director for Australia while the rest of the Boyd team consist of Hugh Morrison, principal engineer; George Cumplido, senior geologist; Todd Vallance, mining engineer; John Brett, senior associate.

“Together the BOYD team have over 25 years plus experience in the mining and geological industry,” Alexander said.

“We have been involved in the mining industry in Australia and Asia for a long period, and this expansion demonstrates our continued commitment to the mining industry in this part of the world.

"As with everyone else in the industry, hiring good people is a major challenge, however we are attempting to overcome that and will make some further additions to the team shortly,” he said.

In recent months Jim Schaeffer, Boyd’s executive director Asia Pacific has been heavily involved in advising Shenhua Energy Company’s in the lead-up to that company’s major initial public offering, scheduled for June 15.

Boyd’s offices have been relocated to Level 10, 77 Eagle Street, Brisbane, Qld 4000.
