Raiseboring technical reference released

Known as MDG 1030, the raiseboring guideline is designed to assist mine managers and contractors and identifies a host of risks and considerations.

“The scope of this guideline includes the initial planning and design of the project as well as the actual operational aspects of raiseboring,” the introductory passage of MDG 1030 said.

“Where raiseboring projects are subject to competitive tendering to specialist providers, this guideline provides mine managers with an opportunity to base pre-selection of tenderers on a demonstrated understanding of and commitment to addressing those hazards identified in this guideline.”

The second edition notably includes a detailed technical reference that provides control measures for known risks.

A feedback page is included in MDG1030.

While there is no email contact address on it, the page can be filled in and emailed to: mine.safety@industry.nsw.gov.au.
