Billion tons of coal found in China

MORE than one billion tons of coal reserves have been found in east China’s Anhui Province, said Xinhua's China Economic Information Service.

The news agency reported Chinese geologists had found rich coal reserves in Fuyang City in the country’s Anhui Province.

A manager with the Geophysical Prospecting Team with Anhui Provincial Coal Mine and Geology Bureau told Xinhua the coal reserves spread over 75 square kilometres and were estimated at one billion tons.

He said the coal reserves could sustain development of 200 years by a coalmine with an annual production of six million tons.

Coal producer Guotou Xinji Group located in the Anhui Province had obtained the right to explore the coal reserves in this area, Xinhua said.
