Six dead in fire

AN UNDERGROUND fire started by an electrical cable has killed at least six miners in North-West China, China’s official news agency Xinhua reports.

The Kalatuzi coal mine is located in China's Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region in a remote mountainous area. Authorities have dispatched rescue teams to the mine.

Details of the accident and final death toll have yet to be released, with the area’s isolation hindering communications.
