Calling all geoscientists

Presented by the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Geoscience Taskforce and the Australian Institute of Geoscientists, the one-day workshop will be held in Brisbane, Queensland, October 21.

Presentations describing case studies from surface and underground operations, where new ideas have been made to enhance functionality and performance, are sought from mining geoscientists. Opportunities exist for both verbal and poster presentations and the presentation of workshops and short courses.

Potential paper topics include:

Innovations in data management, analysis and presentation

Open pit and underground mapping systems

Grade control and coal quality management

Communicating with other professionals

‘Adding value’ with geology

Managing consultants

Integrating resource, geotechnical and hydrogeological data

Changes in the roles of mine geologists

The implementation of new technologies
