This follows the March announcement that BMA had ordered 116 roof supports from DBT Australia, for delivery in the first quarter of 2005.

The EL3000 shearer will have a total installed power of 1,440kW including 2 x 600kW cutter motors and 2 x 100kW haulage motors.

The shearer will feature a unique mainframe design to maximise coal clearance and an innovative roll steering arrangement designed to assist in face management in thick seam applications. The mining target is the Goonyella Middle Seam with the roof supports designed to operate at a height of between 2.4m – 5.2m.

Notably the shearer will be provided with the most advanced shearer automation system "Navigator 2" developed by DBT and currently in operation at Xstrata's Beltana Mine.

The shearer will be assembled in the DBT Mackay workshop and will be delivered in April 2005.
