Massey vice president quits

Massey Energy vice president and chief administrative officer James Gardner has resigned from the Virginia-based company citing personal reasons.

"We appreciate Jim's many contributions to the company over the past twelve years," Massey chief Don Blankenship said.

"Jim has served as general counsel, on our board of directors and most recently, as our CAO. He will be missed and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors."

Gardner’s resignation will be effective November 19, 2004.
